ISO 9001 label: we passed the test
On 12 October, airports on the French Riviera officially received the ISO 9001 label, version 2000.
Three major processes were certified for Nice Côte d'Azur Airport:
- commercial flight handling (planning, controlling visits to the hold)
- passenger services (information, directions, facilities)
- access and parking (signposting, roads, car parks)
Cannes-Mandelieu was audited for general aviation handling (private aircraft).

August 2001: "drop-off" viaduct brought into service
The "drop-off" viaduct in direct contact with the P5 car park was constructed in several phases:
- the approach ramp and the section running alongside the terminal opened in August 2001
- cars using both viaducts used the same exit ramp until December 2001 because of building work at the P5 car park.
This viaduct now functions autonomously. Pedestrians reach Terminal 2 by crossing a footbridge.

A new call-centre
To find out flight times, the shortest route to the airport and the nearest car park, just dial one phone number: 0820 423 333.

31 December: Euro: Immediate boarding
Having integrated the euro into its financial and accounting systems, the Airport made a successful switch to the European currency during the night of 31 December 2001/1 January 2002. Since 1999, approximately 25 people had been involved in this mission and 150 people received training during the final quarter of 2001.
So as not to interfere with the switch to the euro, car park prices were not increased on 1 January 2002.

The Airport and the business zone, L'Arénas, constitute the second most important economic centre in the Alpes Maritime, accounting for a total of 376 companies and over 7,600 employees. A new guidebook of companies at the Airport and in L'Arénas has been published, officially sealing their determination to develop synergy between two entities so close in geographical terms and so complementary in terms of services.

1st "Airport and the Environment" Round Table
This first round table attracted national and European specialists from the airport world (see list), plus representatives from residents' associations and several municipalities in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The debates highlighted the dawning awareness at all levels of the importance of the environment and the marked improvement in listening to and discussing with local residents.

Delta: flying between Nice and New York for 10 years
The tenth anniversary of the Nice-New York route operated by Delta (launched on 3 November 1991) put the spotlight on long-lasting relations with the United States that date back to the middle of the 80s.
Such longevity reflects the importance for the French Riviera's economy of relations with the United States.
Set against a background of crisis in air transport, the success of this transatlantic link - the only connection in France between the United States and a regional Airport - is an undeniable plus point for Nice Cote d'Azur Airport.
