Senegal does not just delight its visitors with its human warmth. It treats them to many other delights. Such as its two capitals... The former capital is Saint-Louis. The city, a living witness to the colonial era, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then, there is the new capital which is, of course, Dakar, a city pulsating with such intense energy that it can overwhelm some holidaymakers. They will find refuge a few kilometres away, on a beautiful and peaceful island: Gorée. It is a little paradise; although it was once a hell, as evidenced by its House of Slaves, a poignant reflection of the dark days of the slave trade.
