As it heads for another record year in terms of passenger traffic, Nice Côte d’Azur airport will be gaining a third weekly frequency to Montréal operated by Air Transat from May 2019. This represents a 40% increase in the number of frequencies on this route for the company.
Canada will soon be closer for inhabitants of the Côte d’Azur. From 2019, Air Transat will be providing a new weekly frequency between Nice and Montreal. Next summer, a total of 72 round trips will therefore be available, compared to 51 last summer, with almost 30,000 seats on offer (an increase of 12%). A321neo LR aircraft will be used for the flights. These ultra-modern aircraft can reduce noise nuisance at take-off by up to 50%, and their carbon footprint by 15%. The new flights come in addition to the four existing weekly connections to Montreal, provided by Air Canada.
This strengthening of the connection is further evidence of Nice Côte d’Azur airport’s great dynamism. Since the start of the year, the platform has seen a 4.2% increase in traffic, but the strongest growth has been for international routes, at 5.2% (compared to 2.3% for domestic routes). Above all, with this new frequency, the platform is strengthening its leading position in France (outside of Paris) in terms of seats offered on scheduled long-haul flights.
Nice Côte d’Azur airport is growing its presence on the international scene, providing those living in the Côte d’Azur with access to a growing number of destinations, and benefiting the whole region, where economic development is connected to the flow of business travellers and tourists.
“This new frequency reflects the attractiveness of our territory and Nice Côte d’Azur airport's capacity to work in the long-haul market, using both A380 and A321neo LR aircraft, to meet the expectations of all types of passengers and the needs of all airlines”, states Dominique Thillaud, Chairman of the Board of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur.
