The Russian airline S7 Airlines will operate up to six flights a week between Nice Côte d’Azur and its base at Moscow-Domodedovo, starting on 28 April 2019. This new connection will further increase the appeal of the Côte d’Azur to international travellers.
Between 28 April and 6 October, the Russian airline will operate five or six flights a week between Nice and Moscow-Domodedovo. It will charter a 158-seater A320 for arrivals at 11:05 am on every day of the week, except Wednesday, and departures at 2:15 pm.
This new service will strengthen connections with Russia, whose tourists are visiting the Côte d’Azur in increasing numbers. In 2017, the Russian market accounted for 220,000 stays, lasting an average of six nights. 74% of Russian visitors are from Moscow and its region.
With the arrival of S7, a total of 36 flights a week bound for Russia will leave from Nice Côte d’Azur in the summer of 2019, compared with 29 in the summer of 2018, increasing the number of seats by 14% to 300,000. The airport has also announced additional frequency with Rossiya Airlines, with 29 flights leaving for Moscow and St. Petersburg, compared with six last year.
“Nice Côte d’Azur is continuing to develop its long-haul connections to the advantage of the local population and the region, which, year on year, benefits from the arrival of highly prosperous international travellers. This new service consolidates our position as France’s second airport platform and meets the growing need to decentralise French airspace”, enthused Dominique Thillaud, Chairman of the Board of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur.
