With a fourth direct link to New York, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport strengthens its leading position for North American destinations

In the summer of 2027, American Airlines will operate a daily direct flight to New York JFK. This new route, served by the state-of-the-art Airbus A321XLR, brings the total number of long-haul flights to North America to 10, including four to New York.

Each year, Nice Côte d’Azur Airport is able to announce a new destination or connection to a major American city. Following the expansion of its network to various North American destinations—alongside the move to year-round service to New York—this latest announcement from American Airlines reinforces the airport's position as France's leading airport outside Paris (with eight routes to the United States) and as a primary gateway to North America.ss

Following two successful summers, American Airlines is bolstering its presence in Nice (NCE), adding a second flight between the Côte d'Azur and the U.S. with a brand-new flight to New York City (JFK). Launching on May 6, the route will join the existing flight between NCE and Philadelphia (PHL) and will be operated on an Airbus A321XLR, with 155 seats.

"The launch of this new route between Nice and New York (JFK) by American Airlines reflects not only the growing appeal of the North American market for the French Riviera but also the renewed confidence of the airline, which has already been operating a service between Nice and Philadelphia since 2024. More than ever, our mission remains to connect our region directly and sustainably to major global capitals," Franck Goldnadel, Chairman of the Board, Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur.

“Since introducing our first service to Nice in 2024, feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. With the addition of a second flight to the Côte d'Azur, we’re providing even more opportunity for those much-desired summer escapes,” said José A. Freig, Vice President – International and Business Partner Operations. “We’re also excited to be expanding the reach of our new Airbus A321XLR, which launched in summer 2026, providing customers with an elevated experience in the air as they cross the Atlantic.”

American is the first U.S. airline to introduce the A321XLR. Featuring 20 Flagship Suite® seats, 12 Premium Economy seats and 123 Main Cabin seats, this aircraft offers an elevated inflight experience. All customers flying on this aircraft will have access to high-speed Wi-Fi and complimentary seatback entertainment featuring Bluetooth connectivity.
