PRESS RELEASE:digital wallet for passengers
Released a year ago in the US, Apple's latest venture, "Passbook", has not yet been adopted in European airports, let alone in France. Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur is the first European airport to launch a dedicated application allowing passengers to group in a single digital wallet all airport access passes as well other vouchers or coupons to be used in the airport's retail areas.
This smart application, based on a much awaited feature of the star product of the latest mobile operating system, iOS 6, is now available in the airport domain.
Aiming to streamlining passenger experience by using digital technology to provide a range of practical services, the ACA Passbook allows passengers to group on their iPhone their on-line reservations of Club lounges or parking slots as well as their Club Airport Premier loyalty card. Using the geolocation service, Passbook displays the e-tickets on the iPhone once the passenger is close to the airport or supplies information about flight delays or airport access traffic problems.
From this summer, the ACA Passbook will also be integrated in the on-line reservation of airport retail goods, for instance to purchase this summer's collection. Passengers can fill up their e-baskets and then choose the time and date to collect their items at the shop. They can also book access to the Club lounge online if they wish to relax in a pleasant and elegant setting, located directly by the boarding lounges, which provides a wide range of products and services: snacks, open bar, press for reading or to take with you, TV, free WiFi, telephone and fax.
In an era when smartphones are as packed with essentials as your hand luggage, "this is a truly convenient service that makes it easier for passengers to have their passes and tickets to hand, and which further enhances the dematerialisation approach so important to Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur that it is incorporated in the passenger channel as in our digital strategy," affirms Dominique Thillaud, Chairman of the Executive Board of Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur.
