Arriving at Helsinki Airport
hether you are flying with Finnair or Norwegian, when you arrive, you will get off your Nice-Helsinki flight at Terminal 2 of Helsinki Airport, in Vantaa. It is located around 15 kilometres from the capital. How can you get to the city centre?
- By bus: from Terminal 2, Finnair City Bus 615 will take you to Helsinki Central Station. The journey takes at least 40 minutes. One departure every half hour, day and night.
- By train: the direct journey from the airport to Helsinki Central Station takes 30 minutes. There are trains every 10 minutes during the day, every 15 minutes between 19:00 and 22:00, and every 30 minutes after that.
- By taxi: you can choose between three “official” companies.
- By hiring a car from one of the five companies present at the airport.
- By driving a “shared car”. Go to P5, floor 4, to find out whether there is a car available. You will need to leave it in one of the two car parks in the city centre.
What to do in
Point de passage obligé de tout visiteur d’Helsinki : le sauna. Vous n’y couperez pas ! C’est une institution, au point que la plupart des Finnois en ont un chez eux. Rassurez-vous : il existe aussi des établissements publics. Détendu par ce bain de vapeur, vous n’en apprécierez que davantage votre visite dans la capitale finlandaise. Avec ses 600 000 habitants, la ville est loin d’être une mégalopole. Sa découverte se fait donc à pied (ou en métro et tramway si vous êtes frileux !), le plus sûr moyen d’apprécier le charme de ses quartiers, leur architecture de caractère et l’originalité de leurs boutiques. Mais ce n’est pas à pied, ni même à la nage, mais en ferry que vous gagnerez les petites îles alentours. Et oui, Helsinki est un archipel ! Un voyage à l’intérieur du voyage !
